Leaving Spotify

Hi hello, omg we're not trauma dumping today?? Sorry about that, what can I say I'm a lil emo dude aaannnnnd as the good lil emo dude that I am I listen to a lot of music! (Poor transition I know, moving on).

I've been using Spotify for slightly over a year, I had a Premium Dou subscription so my mom could benefit it aswell, I live in france and it's around 17 euros. The price has significantly increased in a year which is already something that was bothering me. So i was already thinking about canceling our subscription and then I learned that Spotify's ceo was funding war drones ai??? Dude are you not rich already?? Anyway, I talked about it with my mom and we agreed on canceling our subscription.
Now I'm in the process of downloading aaallll of my music into mp3 files to send them to my phone. (Piracy?! I never said that, you did!). I'm really sad new phones don't have an sd card sltot but thanfully mp3 files don't take that much space. As I was going through my playlists I realised Spotify has changed my relationship with my music in a way I'm not sure I like. Sure it was nice having an almost infinite music library available anytime, but I had many songs that I saved, listened to once and never went back to it, or artists I was only listening to one song and never bothered checking the rest of their songs because I knew it was just right their if I ever wanted to one day. And obviously that day never came, it's almost like the more you have the less you pay attention to it. All of a sudden I realised I lost the personal connection I had with the music I was listening to. I remember as a teen I would spend hours listening and downloading all of BVB's songs and I would know them by heart, Spotify kinda took that away from me, I stopped taking the the time to actually listen to an entire album before downloading it. (we're not talking about my early 20's it doesn't count I was dead inside lol). I'm glad leaving Spotify gave me the opportunity to reconnect with my music again, I have missed it.

If anyone is curious I use Audify to listen to music on my phone, You can personalise the Theme with any background picture you have which is something I really appriciate and it gives you your top 3 listened songs and artists. The only I'll miss is the possibility to check my stats, now that my music isn't on any streaming platform anymore I won't be able to have detailed stats sobs. That's why I like having at least my top 3 songs and artists on Audify hehe.

I think that's all I wanted to say about it, for today at least. Whatever you're listening to latelly I hope it's fire.

See ya!
